Today’s meditation for me was about Rejection. Until recently, I dreaded being rejected. Today, I see it as a source of pride and freedom in my thinking. Quite often, from dogs to governing, I have ideas that most people might not agree with. I used to hate it, be angry, or pout when they were rejected.
In our time, it’s important not to fear Rejection or worry that my heart might not be true to what I feel. We talk about freedom, but many people don’t really practice it; they join the mob and hate the different. But as I grew up, I came to see that Rejection is a real test of moral character and faith.
People often start messages to me by saying I hope I am not because they differ from something I wrote. Rejection feels great and awful; it’s poison for a Republic or free nation. Go ahead, reject me; I think it’s good for both of us. They call it a democracy. If I figure if I’m never rejected, I’m already dead.
I dug up an old Aristotle lesson to his students: “You will never do anything in this world without courage.”
