We had the tail end of a Nor’easter this morning, and I once again got to see how beautiful storms can be in the country. We didn’t get the worst of it, but we did get a lot of rain and wind. Across the street, an Amish family was building the first leg of a new home; some will come to live just down the road from us and focus on making wood items.
This is a place of beautiful moments.
I won’t be taking any more photos of them; too close for close pictures. They get uneasy with that. We are lucky to have them as neighbors – peaceful, quiet, and hard-working. They also go to sleep around dusk and get up before dawn.
I love to watch leaves blow in a storm. I didn’t get the height of it, but it was still beautiful and somehow peaceful. Zinnia came with me; she ate a dead chipmunk earlier in the day (thanks for nothing, Zip) and watched intently as I tried to capture the feel of the leaves. iPhones are great for that.
We knew they were coming and are glad they are here. We were afraid some New Yorkers would show up and build one of those giant homes that are wrecking the shorelines. The Amish love the natural environment and use it well. They also bring horses, something beautiful to look at.
