From Two Blogs To One: Time To Grow Again. Thanks For Your Response

by Jon Katz

Linda: “I think it would be wonderful for you and Maria to merge your blogs. It would allow you to read hers.” – Message this morning, one of many.

_____

In the past couple of weeks, Maria and I have been talking about fusing her blog, fullmoonfiberart, with my Blog, The Bedlam Farm Journal.

It makes a lot of sense. A lot of people would find it easier to read about us, our work, our farm, and our animals on one blog than two, and let’s face it, the Bedlam Farm experience is hers as well as mine. Maybe more so.

She adds a lot of wonderful things to my blog – her art, her love of the animals, her love of art, her wonderful writing, and the work we have done together.

We just came up with this idea, but we’re going to meet with the Mannix Marketing people – they designed both of our blogs – in the next week or two.

I’ll be honest. This will be much less expensive for us, we think, but speaking only for me, I will sleep easier knowing this new and exciting blog will be up and running when I am finally gone (I plan to be around for a while)

There is no reason why the people who read us – there are many thousands – can’t read both of them in the same blog post.

We will, of course, keep our own identities. The blog would have a title that reflects both of us, and we would each sign our work and sometimes post about our farm.

This has not been my farm or blog for some time. It’s our farm and our blog. We don’t yet know the cost, and Maria is eager to access her writing, which is often about her artistic progress. I think that’s doable. We don’t need to throw much of anything out.

Anyway, thank you for your very kind response. It makes me think it’s a good idea. So far, it’s just an idea. We’ll see if we can take it farther.

  1. When you initially spoke of the possiblity of merging your blogs, I admit I was skeptical.. However, the more I have thought about it…it makes perfect sense. You have so many shared interests…even though there are some creative differences..your lives and loves are shared…and the overall *theme* is the same……so….I am actually embracing this idea now!
