I was delighted but not surprised to see the rave young Angie got with her photos of the animals on Bedlam Farm. She had much praise on Facebook and on my blog. She has the true photographer’s gift of capturing the soul and spirit of her subjects. She wants to be a sports photographer, but she has the skill to be anything she wants. I’m delighted to have her work appearing regularly on the blog.

Angie specializes in digital photography and knows how to use her camera. I’ve moved into a different kind of photographer, softer and more atmospheric, and similar to the Pastoral photos I love to emulate. The Leica specializes in smooth, and I love fuzzy. Hers is right on. I love it.

Angie can follow whatever line she wants; she has a lot more innate skill than I ever did. I had to take lessons even to work my camera.

She is self-taught. She’s already superb.

She’s a star right out of the gate. I can’t wait to see what she does.

I put up two of her photos yesterday: a sheep and Fate. She also got one of Zinnia, which captures her sweet and calm.

Angie

Angie is a student at an Oklahoma college. She is also a sports photographer, and I met her last week to pass along some wisdom about my photography. As it happened, she gave me some great ideas and came to the farm with her mother, Jannette, who is my yoga instructor. I am impressed by her energy, creativity, and enthusiasm.

We had a great time sharing photos and ideas. She has a fanatic obsession with a good photographer. Angie doesn’t waste any time. When I offered her a column, she didn’t need to mull it over.

Angie has great talent and a lot of determination. She was a champion wrestler in high school before she started taking pictures. I was impressed, and I invited her to take some photos of the animals on the farm – she’s a 4-H kid, and the animals here all loved her instantly. I asked her if she would like to have a column on the blog where she could show her photographs. It could be weekly, or occasionally, or monthly; it’s up to her.

I’m betting on weekly.

Here are two of the pictures she took yesterday, one is our sheep Mericat, and the other is an impressive capture of Fate and her extraordinary focus around the sheep. They all sensed she was an animal person.

I’m thrilled to have her photos appear on my blog. I am keen on helping young creatives get some exposure in a highly competitive world. She has a gift for capturing emotion and detail.
