Weekend Photos. Pictures From The Garden Bed Only… Flower Art On Weekdays

by Jon Katz

Starting this weekend, I’ll be posting flower photos in the early evening from my Raised Garden Ben, where all the flower stuff began. Flower Art will be up on weekdays. I hope you enjoy them; they’re free and almost radiate calm. Skip the news and check them out, stare at them, close your eyes, stare again. Or watch the news if you must, and come see them.

My assistant is distracted by the chipmunks who tease him. Not wise.

Welcome, poppies, they don’t stay long, but they are welcome when they are here.

This flower sings.

Shining blue.

Not on color, but many.

Flowers start dying right away, but they are just as beautiful. That is a lesson.

The flowers in my garden bed are all part of a community; none stands alone.

Four Raised Bed Images Today (Calla Gate First) – Can You Imagine?

by Jon Katz

The Garden Bed seemed to open up this afternoon. My Callas, planted a month ago, the first Nistirium, and some other plants whose names I don’t know. Please don’t arrest me, social media police, I’ll come in and surrender with the flowers at the station, in case I can’t afford bail. This is going to be a lovely garden bed. I watered it just before taking the picture. Lots of vibrant color, good news for the photographer.

Free Photo Show, Friday Night, Friday, May 26, 2023. A Symbol Of Unfaithfulness, and An Angel’s Home

by Jon Katz

William Shakespeare made Columbine flowers a symbol of marital dishonesty and infidelity. In Hamlet, they were Ophelia’s flowers and weren’t given as a compliment.

I find them among the most delicate and gentle flowers I’ve encountered. They blew in the wind today,  but my Leica portrait lens was faster enough to grab them swaying together. How innocent they looked to me, and how pure.

I bought this beautiful plant a couple of weeks ago; I don’t remember what kind of flower it is. I call it an Angel’s Home.

Welcoming Some Newcomers To My Garden Bed. A New Iris Flower, A Graceful Columbine Plant

by Jon Katz

Welcome to two beautiful new flowers – a new Iris has bloomed, and I bought a beautiful Columbine planting from Anne at Hickory Wind Farm. After I post this, I’m holing up to read and meditate.

In the morning, I will be fitted for a new brace that will hopefully end my left foot’s long and sometimes troubled fate.

Tonight, I’m determined to do some reading; I’m falling behind. We had a wild, fun, and continuously busy weekend. This was a jarring contrast to the quiet and anxious weekends of the past month. I felt like a slug.

My raised garden beds look beautiful. All sorts of flowers are sticking their heads up out of the soil. Come along and meet the new ones.

My Iris plant has moved to Maria’s garden; I have visiting hours.

I love the color here.

This is a Leica photo, the camera loves this sprawl and delicacy.

Free Flower Show. Tuesday, May 16, 2023

by Jon Katz

Our beautiful purple iris is beginning to fade. I hope we can find another one at the next farmer’s market. I loved taking pictures of it. We should be okay for the summer if we get through the frost wave tomorrow. We’ll cover our plants with tarpaulins.

Flowers, like farms, are constantly dying and being reborn. I love to catch the buds. Flowers live well and die well. This flower show is free; it is produced by my Iphone 13 and my Leica.

Life and death. Here’s life above.

I want to follow the purple iris for as long as she lives, which won’t be for too long.

I’m not sure what these are, but they stand out beautifully. Good night all; see you in the morning. I have a dentist appointment and might be out of action until noon.
