I took this photo with my Leica 35 MM lens this morning at sunrise. It’s one of my favorites, and I wanted to share it with you. Sights like this are why I live in the country.

As some of you may have noticed, I go out first thing in the morning and look for my blue sky and any exciting clouds. There hasn’t been much of either in the past few weeks, so I was happy to find both this morning.

They speak for themselves.

As a photographer, I believe arctic cold looks different in the sky than winter cold. It has a paler feel, and the clouds are more restrained, even dignified.  I consider the arctic sky the most beautiful.

The cold began to arrive last night; I went outside to catch the night sky when the temperatures dropped, and the wind blew.

The wind is howling and gusting now; I’ll be surprised if the power doesn’t go out. We might get to use our generator.

At sunrise, the bedroom and living room windows were covered with frost. That only happens when it’s freezing.

The sun rose behind this crystal hanging piece. We knew the cold was here.

The night sky was forbidden, jet black, but the moon lit up our apple tree.

I had gone down to the Shift Food cart for my Edward Hopper image. I think I’m addicted to it; the contrast is exceptional. More later, the worst of the storm will be tonight. This time, the weather hype is for real. I’m going to lie down for a while. I’ll be back. Stay warm.

It’s too cold for Fate to go outside and work. She sits by the window and stares at the sheep.

(Biddie seems fine this morning; we’re keeping her in a stall in the barn until Sunday.)

I’ve added a new label for the blog category I am working in at the moment. I think it gives more identity to the blog and what it’s about.One category I am drawn to is landscape, ever since I started taking pictures seriously I became aware of the beauty that was all around me

Now, I can hardly live without it, and I want to share it. I didn’t have to go more than 15 feet to see this beautiful image of a sheep grazing, framed by the leaves on our apple tree. My landscape, sharing it with  you.
