Every morning, the sun comes up differently over the farm. And lights up my world in a new and different way. A friend told me he is afraid to listen to the news every day, afraid to go the doctor – he jogs five miles a day is on blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol medication – afraid to look at the stock market, or listen to the weather. So don’t, I said, and he looked at me in shock, as if I had suggested flying to the moon.

I told him I was buying stuff from the Fear Merchants any more. No weather alerts, no news, no following the ups and downs of their economy (it is sure not mine), or their politics, no pills or tests while I feel good and am healthy. Or maybe ever. I’m spending my money elsewhere. On things are support my life, not theirs.
