Because they sense human emotions so intuitively, donkeys read people well, and the language passing between Lulu and Fanny and Maria is a sweet song of love and trust. I usually cuddle with the donkeys a bit myself each day, but they are clearly smitten with Maria. They share their own special stories and jokes.

Larry’s barbershop, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Like family farms, small barbershops are vanishing, succumbing to salons and stylists. Most towns still have one, and in trendy Saratoga, Larry’s Barbershop, with its red-white-and-blue bench stands out. Everybody glowered at me when I came to ask permission to take a photo, then Larry relented. Thanks, Larry.
Glens Falls House, end of the storm
I love this Glens Falls house. Captures the feel of the neighborhood. Weather permitting, going to hang out at the Rouse farm Wednesday, see what’s going on out there. Turning in my animal grieving book next week. Turned in the final edits of my short story collection yesterday. Moving forward. I am happy to be back walking around Glens Falls again. Signed Bedlam Farm Family notecards and other notecards also signed available on the Redux site, or by calling 802 867-4211. Some of the proceeds going to aid for family farms.
After the rain, Glens Falls, N.Y.
Brought my 22 mm Zeiss landscape lens to Glens Falls, and it poured, flooding many of the streets. When it stopped, I clambered out of the doorway I was hiding in, and felt this shot captured the feel of the industrial soul of Glens Falls.
Morning glory, in the rain
The garden is drying up, but the Morning Glory’s Maria planted all over the farm are delightful in their soft, subtle light, even in the rain.
