Industrious. Book Tour Erupts

by Jon Katz
Book Tour Erupts

I’m using the chickens as a role model for the book tour for “Going Home” which erupted this morning with my first taped interviews. People really want to talk about this, I think. My agent is telling me to relax and get focused for the launch, which is next Tuesday. I’m not really good at resting, but I will try and do a lot of talking, photo-taking and resting. Can’t wait to get out there. Okay, I admit it. I want to help people. And I want to have two books on the New York Times list this year, “Meet The Dogs Of Bedlam Farm” and “Going Home.” Oh, and did I say I wanted to help people, too?

The “Going Home” Video

by Jon Katz
Izzy

Since it aired a little more than a week ago, the “Going Home” video has had more than 6,000 views on YouTube, and many more on Facebook, Twitter and on blogs and sites around the world. I am happy to put it up again today.

Our experiment with Battenkill Books in Cambridge, N.Y has also been a remarkable success, as Connie Brooks has taken nearly 400 pre-orders for signed and personalized copies of “Going Home: Finding Peace When Pets Die,” out next Tuesday from Random House To order the book from Connie, or to buy copies of the “Going Home” video for $5 plus tax and shipping, call Connie Brooks at 518 677-2515. And vote for the importance of independent bookstores. I will have a sore wrist next week.

Simon Says: Kick Me

by Jon Katz
Simon Says: Kick Me

Simon gave a rousing bray this morning, and then got kicked. Donkeys associated braying with a sexual call, and that’s why Lulu and Fanny get a bit excited when they hear it, and sometimes kick Simon, who doesn’t seem to mind. Like congressmen, that’s how donkeys relate to one another.
