Chicken news. The three new chickens – Maude, Shiva and Daisy – came out of the barn and into the sun together and started some earnest pecking and bug-eating. Fran is still in the barn, wobbly and sluggish. Maria says she needs more time to heal, and so she is getting that. The other hens still attack her whenever they see her, so they won’t see her for awhile. We’ll see. The foxes have been sighted almost daily – my neighbor shot at them a couple of times but hasn’t gotten them yet. Nice to see chickens waddling around again. Maude, the speckled gray and white, has given us a fresh egg every day.
