Ten Below

Chemistry Changes

It was ten below when we got up this morning and the chemistry of matter changes. The frost-free faucet froze, and the water line into the house. One of the cars won’t start. The donkeys broke into Rocky’s old stall and ate the hi-calorie supplement we were giving him. They unlatched a gate, knocked over a can, opened it and had themselves a good feast. I predict a stomache ahe for them. In this cold fingers and toes ache, noses run. The farmhouse is snug and tight. The dogs do not want to go out or stay out. Frigid and windy tonight. Tomorrow it will ease. Tomorrow my daughter Emma comes up for a two-day visit, her first look at the new farm, her first encounter with Red. Should be fun.  We will hang out, hit a movie, cook dinner for each other.
