Today, The Florence Walrath Dahlia Garden

Today, we set up the Florence Walrath Dahlia Garden, it honors the garden Florence Walrath once had here, but also it honors hard work, the love of friends and family, independence, individuality, and the very American notion of living your life freely and with dignity and hard work and creativity. The shovels are out, I got a whole basket of dahlia’s at the Hubbard Hall Plant Exchange, and we’ll see how long my back and feet hold up today. I’m on it. This one’s for you, Florence.

Daffodil’s Prayer: Imploring

by Jon Katz
Daffodil's Prayer
Daffodil’s Prayer

We brought some daffodils over to our new home from the Bedlam Farm garden and I put them in a vase on the windowsill to catch the morning sun. How can I see this but a prayer, the light imploring me to live well and simply and responsibly. To consider my decisions and stand behind them, to open my heart to love and light, to let the creative spark guide me. This kind of light is a message, always and I strive to hear it.
