Even the ever-vigilant Zelda has taken to Lulu’s Crossing, our new pasture. More and more, she sometimes will be at ease, taking her eyes off of Red, grazing on the brush and tall grass of the new pasture.

Stay Focused. Don’t Let A Few Donkeys Distract You
Stay focused. No reason to be distracted by a few thousand pounds of donkeys stepping right around your head. Can’t take your eyes off the sheep for a second or they will vanish in a puff of smoke. No Facebook yakking for this dog.
Red At Lulu’s Crossing. Decisions.
Red and I brought the sheep to Lulu’s Crossing to join the donkeys there and I told Red to stay and hold his position, and then I forgot about him and went up to the top of the new pasture to find the donkey’s and take some photos of them. When I walked back down the hill 15 minutes later, I found Red in position, backlit by the rising sun. I wish the sun had been in his eyes, but I can’t say I was unhappy with the photo. Whenever I see Red working, I think of the choices I have in life, what I wish to think about, how I spend my time, my determination each day of my life to do something creative, starting with a photograph in the morning.
I could think about the things I’ve lost, or I can think about the things I’ve gained. I can think about the things I failed to do, or the things I hope to do. I can think about the slights and resentments of life, the people who have hurt me, or I can think about the many good people coming into my life, who I am learning to love and who are learning to love me. Those are my choices, and then, there is Red who reminds me to stay focused and get it done.
