Life And Love In The Dahlia Garden

In The Dahlia Garden

This morning I went out to check on the Dahlia garden, as I do every morning, it is growing. I decided it should be twice as large next year, I will collect bulbs in the Fall and put them in the cold storage room for next Spring. Maria came out to cut some of the flowers for the house, it is so wonderful that she does that every day and looking through the viewfinder I saw so much life and love and color in my Dahlia Garden, it is a sacred space.

Flo (Retired) On The Mower

Went to get Florence’s mower to tidy up the lawn for the Open  House, and there I ran into Flo, (Retired Barn Cat) lounging on the seat. She rolled over on her back for belly-scratching and then I picked her up and deposited her gently on a hay bale, where she is currently presiding over the barn. Flo will not be suffering in the heat. I’ve never worked for a cat before, it is interesting work.

One Photo For Sale. $100

One Photo For Sale
One Photo For Sale. $100

I love this photo of Flo and the leghorn, it has a wonderful symmetry and says a lot about animals, farms and relationships. My photos on the blog are free, feel free to use them any way you wish – for paintings, screen savers, printouts. I see my photos as spirits sailing out into the world. Once in awhile I am moved to sell one, and to commemorate this Sunday’s first Open House at the New  Bedlam Farm, I am offering this one for sale, it is the only photo for sale of mine at the Open House, and it can be purchased here or online (only fair) if anybody wishes to buy it. It is signed and printed on archival paper and expensively matted, 8 ply rag matting.

I am liking the idea of valuing my work, some people have been on me about that, I love the subscriptions to the blog, they have committed me to it all the more – when you get paid for your work it is transforming – and I like this idea of selling a photo once in awhile.

One hundred dollars will cover the costs of printing and matting. Next time I’ll make a profit.

If you are interested, you can purchase it here at the Open House Sunday, or online by contacting Maria –  [email protected]. (She gets a commission ):)
