Joe has laid the first tiles on our new kitchen floor. The former girlfriend is very happy, the dirty old floor was making her crazy. I have a different view of it, I think it is the beginning of a new phase of life in our new home. We are making the transition from quaint to charming, it will take a long time and some more money than is available right now, but I look forward to getting there. This will brighten both of our lives, I have to admit she was right, the old floor was wretched.
When Flo is thirsty, she goes out on the water bucket and walks the rim, then dips her head in the water to drink. Cats are quite amazing.
Every morning, the run rises over my apple tree, and it always suggests to me a day of promise and opportunity. To do my business, to be creative, to love my wife, to conduct my spiritual practice, to continue the search for a meaningful life, to be authentic, to learn patience, to quell anger and manage the recurring details of life. The tree is a prayer, the sun every day’s notion of God. Life is so wonderful, so challenging, so frustrating and demanding.
When I looked out the kitchen window this morning, I was looking at Autumn, you could see it in the light, in the shadows, feel it in the crispness of the air, the way the light hit the leaves. The leaves are beginning to turn slightly, the light is coming in at a photographer’s angle. I love fall, it is the season of promise.
In the morning, the chickens come onto our Appalachian back porch, looking for cat food and just hanging out.
