Art Poem: When Fear And Anger And Sorrow Lie

by Jon Katz
When Fear And Anger Lie
When Fear And Anger Lie

Our art is a conversation between lovers,

it offers an opening for the heart,

When we rip off our masks, take off all of our clothes,

expose our naked selves to the wind and the sun,

the spirits inside of us are kissing the hand of God,

swirling with the cherubim in the Great Dance,

we are   sharing the grandest news about our souls,

proclaiming to the world “we are alive, we are here,

we are important.”

All of our fear and anger and sorrow

will come to us on bended knee,

and apologize,

and confess,

they were all a great lie,

to break our spirits,

and make us blind,

and small.
