Portrait: Griselle. A Formidable Ewe.

Griselle

I have to say Griselle, one of our new Romney’s, has quite a face. Even Red pauses a bit before getting close. She almost dared me to take her photo, but she did not flinch or run. The Romneys, as I call them – Biddy, Griselle, Rosemary and Izzy – are sticking together so far, they did all live together before.

It will be interesting to see if these two cliques fuse int he coming days and weeks. The Romneys are different from the other sheep we have had – Tunis, Cheviot – they seem quite regarl and strong-willed. I am going to enjoy photographing Griselle. Her wool is gray/silver, very beautiful.

My Granddaughter, Sticking Her Tongue Out Yesterday. I Like This Kid…

Sticking Her Tongue Out

I think I’m going to like this kid. My granddaughter, still kicking and squawking in the womb, made an appearance in a sonogram yesterday taken at a Brooklyn hospital.

The doctors said the baby is in great health, Emma messaged me: “the baby is fine, but was literally sticking her tongue out at us.” I asked Emma for a photo which she graciously sent me. I told her to get used to it. I think the baby is kind of cute, I can see (on the left side) that her mouth is open and she is, in fact, sticking her tongue out.

Emma is nearly two weeks overdue, the doctors say they will induce labor on Friday or Saturday if she does not come out by then. Looks like she’s ready. I’ll wait a few days after she is born and Maria and I will go to New York City for the day and then, when the dust settles, we’ll come back for a longer visit.

PeopleĀ  keep telling me how I will feel, and I’m sure it will be great to see this girl – they are not going to name her until they see her – but I will be curious to see for myself how I feel.

I rarely feel like I am supposed to feel, but this already feels good.

Strange new waters. I think she’s ready to come out.
