Jane McMillen, one of the gifted artists Maria has invited to show and sell their work at next weekend’s Open House At Bedlam Farm, came by yesterday with her husband Tom to drop off her new, colorful and very popular pincushions. Maria is selling them next weekend her at the farm, but she is also offering them for sale now to people who can’t make it here. She sold a bunch of them this morning after she published a video, she says it isn’t fair to deny this neat stuff to people who live faraway, and the vast majority of our blog readers are not local.

I have no practical use for a pincushion but Jane’s are so colorful and appealing – like fruit in a bowl – that I want to buy one for my office. You can check them out at maria’s website and buy them by contacting Maria – [email protected]

This issue comes up every Open House, we have readers all over the country and some of the world, and it has always seemed to Maria that she needs to make this work available to everyone. It would be wonderful if everyone who reads the blog could get her, see this original art and meet the animals, and share a bit of our good lives with us. Many do make the trip, most can’t. But we will try and keep everyone posted on what is going on, and the best way to see the art that is for sale is to check Maria’s website.

Jane’s great work transcends the humble pincushion, just as Maria’s potholders transcend the potholder. Both are considered soft sculptures. I’m not unbiased, but Maria has gathered an amazing group of artists, their art is special and affordable. Check it out.
