Little Free Library. We Are On The Map.

by Jon Katz
The Little Library

Our Little Free Library is up and in place on the front lawn, it looks like it belongs there and has grown up out of the ground. I’ve seen some people stop to take a close look at it, but so far, no takers for the books. I’ve heard from other library owners that it usually takes weeks, even months, before people figure out what it is muster the courage to go and take a book.

We are very pleased to join this book-sharing and community building organization, now more than 40,000 strong.

We are in no rush for people to stop by, it takes time. And it’s great to have this symbol out on our front lawn.

This project feels nothing but good. We are now officially on the Little Free Library Map, which means people who are looking for libraries can find us. There is one other Little Free Library in our town, hopefully there will soon be more.

Some friends have urged us to add some children’s books to the library. We already have a couple, but it’s a good idea to add more, we love the idea of children – teenagers as well – checking out our books and reading.

“These Are The Nicest Donkeys I Have Ever Treated…” Our Vet Dr. Jack

by Jon Katz
“These Art The Nicest Donkeys…”

We have a new large animal vet for the donkeys and sheep, Dr. Jack Kittel from Hoof N’Paws, he has vast experience with all kinds of animals and also loves riding bulls in rodeos. He is a lovely man, a country vet loved by all of the farmers around here.

He came to give the donkeys their six-way shots, and he was shocked at how sweet and calm they were. “These are the nicest donkeys I have ever seen,” he said, and I admit my heart swelled a bit when he said that.

He said few donkeys are as easy with people, and most have never been touched or handled. We touch and visit with our donkeys every day, brush them, scratch their ears, give them treats.

As so many visitors to our Open Houses have learned, our donkeys love children and everyone else who comes to visit with us. We are especially fond of Lulu and Fanny, they are sisters, donkeys are remarkable animals, bright, loving independent and intuitive.

I love having donkeys this battle-hardened animal vet says are the nicest ones he has ever seen. That is one of the nicest things anyone could say to me, or to Maria, who loves the donkeys dearly and spends time with them every day of their lives.
