Gus Stands Down The Sheep

by Jon Katz
Gus Stands Down The Sheep

Gus was in a feisty mood this morning, Maria was feeding some apples to the donkeys and the sheep were moving in as they sometimes do. “Hold the sheep,” I said, a command I usually give to Red, but Gus walked right up to Liam, a wether, and sat down, and the sheep stood still.

I don’t know what Gus was thinking, but it sure looked like he was telling the sheep to stay, and the sheep thought so too, because they didn’t budge until I called Gus off, and he moved. I think Gus thinksĀ  he’s Godzilla.

The Watchful Eye: Sunrise

by Jon Katz
Sunrise

Sunrise was especially beautiful this morning, there was a frost last night, the coolest night of the Fall so far, the change in temperature left a heavy mist over the farm. As the sun came up, Red was watching the sheep as usual, flanked by Lulu and Fanny.

The pole barn loomed up in the background. I had my art lens on the camera.
