The more I pay attention to old barns, the more styles and feelings they evoke. The shingles on this one have been almost totally blown or worn off, but the barn has enormous character, and there is a lot going on if you look carefully.

I’m nearly done with Vol. 2 of the Bedlam Farm Diary, a mix of words, still images and video. Little over 5 minutes, which is about where I’ll leave it I think as I can’t really bear to cut much more. Videos need to be short, but this one needs to be longer. I’ll put it up on Monday.

Rose doesn’t make friends easily, and she isn’t crazy about barn cats. Knowing nothing of mice or rats, I suspect Rose sees them as shiftless, sneaky and useless. She usually avoids them. Minnie is trying to make friends. Good luck with it.

We save stale bread for the donkeys, as they love it, and Fanny appreciated her two-day old wheat boule. Maria and the donkeys share a language, and it is always touching to see it.

The Pember Library is a little strange. The second floor is filled with stuff animals shot or trapped by one of the librarys’ founders. It’s a different kind of atmosphere than you find in most libraries.

I love the Pember Library in Granville, N.Y., a beautiful old building filled with strange stuff. This man reading a newspaper caught the feel of the place. We were there so Maria could do some sketches. She’s part of an art show (open to the public) this coming Friday at the Library. She is doing a sketch of the library for her potholders.
