The old sheep are night creatures. I hear them calling to one another in the dark all night. When the sun comes up, they gather and huddle under the shelter, still in the sun, conserving themselves. They have been eating hay until last week – the farmer does not have enough pasture for them, and they trot out slowly up the hill to find the best grass. They are still most of the day, waiting. They touch heads often and pair up. They sometimes seem to be one thing, rather than a number of things.

Art Show (four). Man And Dog
I was darting all over the place to keep my shadow out of the photo, and then the bell went off in my head, saying “dumbass, this is the photo.” I was struggling with the exposure in the very bright and direct sun, but then I just decided to go with it and I liked it.
Art Show (three). Red In Shadow. Last Light.
I’m in a mystical mood, and I see Red as another of my spirit dogs – Rose, Orson, Izzy, Frieda. He comes from a distant place to enter my life for a purpose, yet to be revealed. He has awakened things in me, and he brings the most beautiful light with him when he works. It is haunting beautiful and surprising.
Art Show (two.) Red In Shadow
At sunset, the sun explodes through the trees behind the farmhouse and captured the beautiful feel of a point in time. Maria looked at the photo and didn’t even recognize the Pig Barn to the right. A mystical time. She is in the photo to the left of the big tree.
Bedlam Art Show: Jigsaw Puzzle Lady (One)
I like to buy my former girlfriend presents, even though it annoys her sometimes and she is always telling me I don’t need to buy her presents. I can’t really help myself. She deserves them. They are not big or expensive – bracelets, books, necklaces, personal things. For our anniversary I bought her a jigsaw puzzle table, an old tavern table built around 1740. She loves it, and I love to see her sitting in the near dark working on her puzzles, so the photo needed to be dark, but it seemed like a painting to me.
I got some light and shadow photos today, so I am doing my own Bedlam Art Show, putting a few up here and a few more in a Facebook Album. Who needs an art gallery when you have a blog?
