Collecting Sticks

Collecting Sticks

In the winter, Fate startled us by skating on the ice. When it warmed up,, she tried *unsuccessfully” to flush out the frogs. Now, she has turned her attention to collecting sticks and twigs that blow or fall into the water. She circles the edges of the pond,  the waits for the wind or the water to push the sticks close enough so she can grab them and pull them out.

She is very serious in this work, and I am not sure what her intentions are. She doesn’t chew the sticks, she piles them up on the dry ground, and then goes and finds another one. Fate’s capacity to find work anywhere just astonishes us sometimes. This was a big stick too, as long as she is.

The First Step

First Step

I finished the first step in repainting the wooden outdoor flowers Ed Gulley of Bejosh Farm made last year – he is a folk artist as well as a dairy farmer.  I painted a coat of primer on them. I’m not sure what colors I want to paint the flowers Sunday. I have red, green and blue paint availab,e but I like the white daisy look, I might keep one of them white. Fate was curious and kept an eye on the proceedings, not quite sure how to disrupt it. Yet. It is unusual for her to sit quietly anywhere for more than a few minutes. More tomorrow.

White Birch In The Deep Woods

White Birch In The Woods

The white birch in the woods seems to have a life of its own, the bark peels and curls and evolves, it almost seems alive. Perhaps it is alive. The Kabbalah says that if the light were completely hidden the world would not exist even for a moment. The light is hidden and sown like a seed that gives birth to other seeds and fruit. Thus the world is sustained.

Painting The Farmhouse Doors

Painting The Doors

Maria suggested painting the doors to the farmhouse Red, I think it’s  a great idea, we got some blood red paint at the hardware store this afternoon. There are three doors in the farmhouse, two out front (one was built when the porch was added) and one in the front and rear.

Whoops, Maria just knocked over the paint can, got to go help her mop it up. Back later.
