Afternoon chores. Maria is much loved on the farm.
June 23, 2009 – Last year’s book tour began the day the market took that plunge, and it was a struggle to see all of those frightened people during the next few weeks. People are still struggling, but there seems less fear, in the world and in me, and I am looking forward to hitting the road. Some new places.
The tour begins on August 22, at Northshire Books in Manchester, Vt. (the tour will be posted on the website – see above link on August 22. I am going to be in Cambridge, N.Y., at Battenkill Books – Hubbard Hall – the following week, and at Red Fox Books in Glens Falls (I think that will be at the Glens Falls Public Library). I’ll be in Great Barrington, Mass., at The Bookloft on Saturday August 29.
On Labor Day, I’ll be talking at Gardenworks in Salem, N.Y., an then I hit the road. On September 10, I’ll be at the Monson, Mass Free Library (413-267-3866) at 6:30 p.m. to help the “best little library ever” stave off budget cuts. I’ll be in Boston the following day, and then off to Portland, Oregon: Powell’s, 7:30 p.m., September 15th. The following two days I’ll be in Seattle, doing interviews and talks at Village Books in Bellingham, Elliott Bay Book Company and Third Place Books.
Monday, September 21 I’ll be at Joseph Beth in Lyndhurst, Ohio, at 7 p.m. The next day I’ll be speaking at a Hospice benefit at the Sandusky State Theater (419 626-1950). On Wednesday, September 23, I’ll be in Skokie, Illinois at the Barnes & Noble, then another hospice benefit in Rockford, Illinois. There are several other bookstore and benefit appearances still being worked out.
