Art and Soul. Blue Ribbon

by Jon Katz

This photo won a blue ribbon in the Washington County Fair, a dreamy study of two hens, a different interpretation. I’m not selling my photos at the Art Show. Maria thinks I’m wussing out, but I just haven’t figured out how to charge for photos, or which ones to sell. I don’t really want to sell dog shots, and art is expensive. I’m working on it. So my photos aren’t for sale, but if somebody is on fire to buy one, I’ll consider it.
My photos, along with those of Corinna Aldrich, and the quilts by Maria (and she is bringing some potholders over to Gardenworks this morning), the paintings of Ray and Christopher Smith, and poems of Mary Kellogg, plus my book, “Soul Of A Dog,” comprise the artworks at Art Soul at Gardenworks, Salem, N.Y. I am talking and reading at 2 p.m., but the show has been up for several days. Three works have sold already.
Gardenworks has its own show – pies, cheese, fruit, organic produce, crafts, cider donuts,  raspberries and blueberries to pick or buy. It’s a wonderful place (518 854-3250). Hope to see you there. I will be signing books. If you can’t make it, I’ll report later on how it went.

Thursday: Come fight for libraries in general, and Monson, Mass., Free Library in particular, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Monson Massachusetts. Rumor has it that it’s the “best little library ever.” We need to support our libraries as well as banks. Izzy will be along and I will be reading from and signing “Soul Of A Dog.”
