For me, photographing flowers is not about gardening but emotion. If you use a macro lens (I use a 100 mm here), you can create a feeling, an emotion – here, I think hope and light. Joseph Campbell says that the role of the artist is to make sense of the light and shapes and image of the world. I would add it is to life people up, and to touch their emotions – to generate laughter, sadness, warmth.  The best messages I ever get about my work are from people who say it touched them, made them feel something. Those are sweet. This image touched, and lifted me up.
