Me and Simon. What can I say?

by Jon Katz
Me and Simon

Simon and I are definitely having a thing, and as I told Maria, it could be much worse.  I love Simon. He is gentle, accepting and, I think, a very spiritual creature. He is very fond of carrots, apples, oat cookies, and then, a cuddle, a hug and a scratch.

I don’t put many photos of me up, but I really felt I ought to when Kim Gifford, an artist, teacher, writer and photographer took this very nice shot while she was meeting Simon  in his corral at the Pig Barn Art Gallery. I don’t remember kissing Simon on the nose, but I have, and I do, and I guess I did.

Kim has the same camera that I do, and she uses it well. She is also a gifted photographer (she does Pug photos that are amazing, along with other things). She is on Facebook. Kim is one of those viscerally creative people who seem to do many things very well.

Anyway, if you love a donkey, you will be rewarded wherever mystics, fairies, angels or cherabims gather. Hopefully. Maria took me out to dinner to celebrate the arrival of the galley for “Going Home,” and we were nearly derailed by a vicious thunder, lightning and hailstorm. We got back to the farm, and Simon had gotten himself into the barn, lying on a bed of straw watching the storm through the barn door. He’s going to be okay. He feels very warm to me, and I’m a bit concerned about that. Will check further in the morning.
