Readings, Signings. Hitting The Road

Readings, Signings, Hitting the Road

Had a solid book tour day. Did a signing that turned into a reading at the Book Corner in Schnectady, N.Y., and then spoke to 80 people at the Half Moon Library in Clifton Park. Walked around the arcade on Jay Street an came across one of the last record shops on the earth. Very funky.

I’m heading for Vermont Sunday to speak at Misty Valley Books in Chester, Vt., first part of the “Support Vermont” leg of the book tour. Vermont tourist officials are eager to tell people that the state is safe and fit for travel. Virtually all the major roads have been repaired. But bookstores and libraries need help, so we are starting in Chester and then breaking off to head to Milwaukee, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio. Then I’ll pick up the Vermont tour again, going to  Lake Placid (to support the Jay, N.Y., Library) Shelburne, Manchester, Waterbury, hopefully Wilmington and Bellows Falls, Vt.. In between, heading for Boston, Wellesley, Mass, Odyssey Books in S. Hadley and Martha’s Vineyard.

Wonderful reviews, signing lots of books. Intense to talk and see people crying. The book is not sad, and I am not sad. I don’t do depressing. Grieving for animals is sad, but not only that, and the talks so far have been lively. I see a tremendous amount of pain in the eyes of people who want books signed. I’m glad I wrote it. Saturday I will return to Battenkill Books to sign some more of the pre-orders, which are still coming into the store for personalized copies of “Going Home.” 518 677-2515. Connie is making some loud noise for independent bookstores. We are shooting for 500 pre-orders. I think will make it, too.

Clifton Park. Full house.
