Took Simon out for a brief walk today, two asses on the road, like the farmer said. I am pleased to become one of that exclusive community of mostly deranged men, who walk with willful, brooding, donkeys and talk to them at important moments in their lives. It is distinguished company, Biblical Scholars, Don Quixote, Juan Ramon Jimenez, madmen and mystics, writers and prophets and travelers  living on the edge of the world, looking on on the burghers and bankers and businessmen living proper and sober lives, monitoring their savings and retirement funds. “Simon,” I said today,”you and I are wanderers, two asses on the road, dreaming of love and a warm place to sleep.
