Song To My Cold

My cold is in it’s second gripping week, it is getting better, I am beginning to function in the morning, still woozy in the afternoon and evening. I have faith it will go away soon. In my codeine cough syrup haze, I was listening to Billie Holiday and Lady Day inspired me to write a song about my cold, I acknowledge and  thank her for her song “Body And Soul,” my inspiration for this song, my first. Ringtones are not available for your cellphone.

Body And Cold

You’re making me blue,

all that you do,

making me cough,

keeping me up,

hurting my throat,

seems so unfair,

you try not to hear,

turn a deaf ear,

To my prayer:

I don’t want you near,

What are you doing to me?

My heart is sad and lonely,

my eyes so watery,

For you I cry,

You are all over me,

Body and Cold.

I spent my days in coughing,

and wondering, it’s me you’re wronging,

Why haven’t you seen it?,

heeded my longing,

why do you need it?,

to torment me so long?

I can’t believe it,

It’s hard to conceive it,

You turn away romance,

Are you just pretending to go?

Don’t say it’s the ending,

you don’t really mean it,

I wish I could have just one more chance to prove, dear,

My life a hell  you’re making,

You know I’m yours just for the taking,

I’d gladly surrender myself to you,

Body And Cold.

Life’s dreary for me,

But can’t you see,

They gave Codeine Cough Syrup

to me,

and so now I look for the sun,

but can see none,

through my watery eyes,

You heart must be like a stone,

to leave me alone,

When you could make my life worth living again,

by just being gone.
