Mud And Ice: Is Mother Earth Speaking To Me?

Is Mother Earth Speaking To Me?

I’m not prone to hearing voices, but lately I feel the earth is speaking to me. It seems that almost everyone in the country is experience strange weather at the same time – it’s 70 degrees in New York, ice storms in the Midwest, rain, fog, ice, and snow on our farm in the same week. When the animals behave strangely, I look and listen – they are trying to tell me something, there is something wrong with them.

I have the same feeling about Mother Earth, something is wrong, this is not the way she behaves in December, not here.  I think of the Kabbalah, of Shekinah, the powerful female Angle God chose to protect the Mother Earth and punish and chastise the people who were harming her, and punish them she did, chasing all over the globe in her chariot to maim and kill those who had abused their sacred obligation – given them by God – to protect the earth.

In our time, the do-gooders and mystics and prophets have been been driven to the edge of the world, nobody listens to them anymore or wants to hear their messages, they can not get a place at the table of shouting pundits and preening celebrities and enraged politicians who dominate our world. Few of them would want to be there.

On my farm, in my life, I hear the voices of the planet, hear the cries of Mother Earth, see that something is wrong, I can feel it in my bones, the weather is a message board, it speaks to us in our feelings and our hearts, it asks us to listen, and I think a lot of other people are beginning to hear these voices as well.
