Lulu’s Work. Simon’s Book

Lulu’s Work

As you can see, my photo process is working again, my pure text experiment did not last long. The people at Mannix Marketing are too quick, really. Lulu is a working animal, most people do not know that donkeys are guard animals, among other things. Lulu is the watch-donkey, she perpetually scans the horizon for danger, she helps drive intruders away from the sheep. No coyote has ever come near our sheep when the donkeys are in residence.

Lulu will put her head down and charge, she will bite and stomp and kick, like the other donkeys. She is a serious donkey, only rarely accepting brushing and pats. On her own terms of course.

Speaking of donkeys, Christmas is past, thanks to those of you who bought “Saving Simon,” I hope you enjoyed it. The “Saving Simon Orphans Book Tour” resumes today, I will be speaking on behalf of the book for months and Connie Brooks of Battenkill Books will of course, continue to sell the book and I will continue to personalize and sign it. We have more stuff to give away as well. You can order the book online or call the store at 518 677-2515. You can read some of the early reviews here.

“Saving Simon” is in its third printing, I am happy to hear from so many people that they knew little of donkeys and are eager to know more. Donkeys are among the amazing working animals of the world, like the carriage horses they have lived in towns and cities and among people for many thousands of years. They are a joy and a wonder.
