The Changing Landscape: Walk On The Hill. Save The Horses

by Jon Katz
Walk On The Hills
Walk On The Hills.

This morning, Maria walked Chloe down the road and across a neighbor’s hay field, I loved the site of these two up on the hills. Chloe has many messages for us, one is the need to save the horses, they are being taken from us every day. More than 150,000 will be hauled in trailers to Canada and Mexico, animal rights organizations all over the country are trying to ban and banish them, from the carriage horses to the ponies who give rides to children, and take them away from the every day lives of people, which is where their magic and purpose and history lie.

Chloe crystallizes this issue for us, she is changing our lives, strengthening us, teaching us, challenging, she has a lot to tell us. So do our dogs, our barn cats,  donkeys and yes, even the sheep. People and animals belong with one another, they are the past and the future. I believe that the road to Hell is, in fact, often paved with good intentions. I believe we need to save the horses from ourselves, and the people who would so eagerly kill them in order to save them.
