Mind Of A Border Collie

Mind Of A Border Collie

I guess I love border collies because of the unique, often bizarre, nature of their minds. We went out into the deep woods this morning for a beautiful sunrise walk with the dogs, and Maria got a bunch of burrs on her  leggings and socks. She raised a leg to pick them off,  and Red and Fate, curious as all border collies are about every single thing that is happening to them, came rushing over to see what was happening, to offer their help, to be in the middle of every single thing that happens on the earth.

I love their curiosity, their nosiness, their passion for helping out. They miss nothing, are interested in everything, they are always right there, right in the middle of every single thing, and the tableau the three of them presented grabbed my attention. They sat there transfixed by Maria and everything happening around her, and sat with her until she was done. I had this idea that if she kept at it, Fate would soon have been picking the burrs off of her socks.
