So we are just about finished with the bathroom, Fate, the Project Dog, approves. Maria has put stuff up on the walls, and it is good stuff, and the room is warm, fun and colorful (can’t get too colorful for me.) As always, I am in awe of my wife’s energy, imagination and drive. She didn’t even think of this until last Saturday and now it is just about done (she even painted the little shelf red).

A dark and grimy corner of the house has been transformed into one of the brightest corners of the house. This, I think, is a harbinger of what is to come, now that we know we are keeping our farmhouse. Creativity can accomplish a great deal. A little Frieda Kahlo, a little South Beach, a little Mexico. How great. It truly is in the spirit of Frieda Kahlo, an inspiration for Maria and for me. Next, we are thinking about how to brighten up the dining room, the only room in the farmhouse that gets little or no sunlight for most of the day.
