Mother Earth: is She Crying Out To Us?

Everyone must come to their own ideas about Mother Earth and what is happening to her, we will all one day be held responsible. Yesterday, I looked up and saw a  beautiful sky that took my breath away, full of anger and pink and white and feeling and beauty.  It was bringing a fearsome storm, rain and wind hail, it was just over the hill and down the road. When I see a sky like this, I stand out in it, and I listed. I believe Mother Earth is crying out to me, to us. Everyone will hear what they wish, I can only speak for myself.

Pope Francis hears her cry in this way:

This sister now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on her by our irresponsible use and abuse of the goods with which God has endowed her. We have come to see ourselves as her lords and masters, entitled to plunder her at will. The violence present in our hearts, wounded by sin, is also reflected in the symptoms of sickness evident in the soil, in the water, in the air and all forms of life. This is why the earth herself, burdened and laid waste, is among the most abandoned an maltreated of our poor.  We have forgotten that we ourselves are dust of the earth; our very bodies re made up of her elements, we breathe her air and we receive life and refreshment from her waters.
