Last week, the ice froze on the pond where we walk, and Fate began skating there joyously. I was wondering what she would do when the ice started to melt – it has been oddly warm this week for February, last year was bitterly cold at this time – and today, we got the chance to see. She came out onto the ice for a few feet, turned around and skittered right off.

Now, I guess she knows.
