Happy Birthday, Robin

Happy Birthday, Robin

Today is my first granddaughter Robin’s first birthday, and I sent her this dress this week without even realizing it was her birthday, there is so much going on in my life. I wish her nothing but love and meaning in her young life, I am touched and inspired by her good cheer, enthusiasm for life, and ready smile.

I think it will stand her in good stead. Robin has enriched my life, brought me closer to my daughter, brought me much love and laughter, I do seem to be surrounded by loving creatures these days, human and animal, and I suspect this says something about my life that is hopeful and revealing.

I believe loves comes when one is open to it, and not before. I learned that lesson the hard way, but I learned it. Anything that you love that comes into your life is a treasure, and so far, Robin is all about love. She embraces life with great enthusiasm and joy.

I’d like to go see Robin over the next few weeks, I’ve seen little of her in the past few months. Her arrival in the world has not altered my life or sent me swooning to the moon, which is, I think a good thing.

Robin has her full and good life, and I have mine, and I am not yet clear on what we will mean to each other.  So far, we are keeping our boundaries and that feels healthy.

I will call her today and wish her a happy birthday, but I am mindful that this is not yet something of much meaning to her, if anything, and birthdays are not a big deal for me either.

I am richer for Robin, and my heart lifts when I think of her. That is no small thing, and I look forward to getting to know her better. She is a sunshine child, for her, and I like that dress on here.

    1. I don’t think she looks like me at all, neither does her mother, she looks just like her father when he was a baby. But she is adorable.
