On The Other Hand…

On The Other Hand

Fate is an ironic counterpart to Red, she has youth, energy, instinct and great speed. She has absolutely no fear of the sheep, but no authority over them either. She just loves to run and run with them and be with them. She can get around them easily, and they pay no attention to her at all now.

But it is the greatest pleasure to see her love of her work as she defines and wants to do it. I’m sure I messed up somehow in the training, but I’m sort of glad that I did. I’ve never had a dog with a greater joy of life, and all the great instincts and smarts of the border collie. (Except one, that is, making the sheep do things.)

It’s a hoot to have serious and professional Red, and mad Fate, (I call her “Demento”) no dog I know ever had so much fun doing nothing. And boy, can she run.
