Seeking Refuge: Radio Show Wednesday

by Jon Katz

Red is a generous dog and would never think of stealing a bone or rawhide from another dog. Fate is a pirate dog and would steal the food right out of Bud’s mouth if she could, so Red takes refuge right next to Red when he has something to chew on.

Fate doesn’t dare bother Bud under Red’s protection. Red seems to be the equivalent of a father figure to Bed, he never pesters Red and always comes to him when he wants to feel safe. Red is his grounding, I think.

I’m going to talk about this- pack behavior in dogs – on my radio show Wednesday from one to three p.m. on Community Radio Station WBTNAM1370.

The show is called “Talking To Animals,” it’s a call in show, the number to call is 866 406-9286, or you can e-mail your questions to me, [email protected], I check my messages during the show and I can read the questions on the air and talk about them.

It’s hopefully a thoughtful and helpful program, no nastiness, shy people are especially welcome.

You can live stream the show by going to WBTNAM.org and clicking on the “Live” button at the top of the page. You can also download a free radio app (like Simple Radio) from the Apple App Store, and listen to the show on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

You can hear a podcast of the show by going to WBTNAM.US. and browsing down and choosing the show by dates. In addition, you can e-mail me at any time with your questions about dogs, cats or other pets, I’ll save your e-mails and read them on the air.

In addition to the show, we are hoping to support community non-profit radio, the people’s media, not the corporate media. You can support the station by donating to them or by going to their Amazon WBTN Wish List.

One way or the other, I hope to hear from you. We have had calls from all over the country and some of the world, sometimes it’s easy to get through, sometimes not so easy.

This is a good cause and I am happy to have a two-hour show about animals, and happy to try to support community radio. Thanks for paying attention and helping support the station.
