The gifted young artist Blue, a refugee from Japan and a junior at the Bishop Maginn High School, just sent me a photo of the latest painting she is working on, which is for sale for $50. If you are interested, please e-mail me, the first person to contact me in this way will get to buy the painting if he or she wishes.

The painting is titled “Sunshine.” I love the brightness and life and love in Blue’s paintings, her art does not reflect the difficulty of her life, which has sometimes been quite dark. Her spirit shines through in her work.

Maria says the photo is gorgeous, her paintings “are really good and professional. She knows how to use the paint, she knows how to draw a person faithfully and with emotion, she does a beautiful job.”

I brought Blue more than $400 last week  courtesy of the Army Of Good so she can buy badly needed personal supplies and new clothes and shoes.  I am bring more money to her Wednesday,  including payment for her second payment, which was sold for $30.

Her teacher, Sue Silverstein will help her figure out what to buy and where. As I mentioned, her family is extremely poor. They are going shopping together  Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Silverstein believes Blue is one of the most gifted artists she has yet encountered in her art class at Bishop Maginn. Maria agrees, and I am impressed.

Wednesday, we are also bringing blue art supplies so that Blue can continue her work over the summer, when school is out.

It is a privilege to support this young and unassuming creative, she is very serious about her art.
