I was happy and a bit surprised to get this photo from Donna Nicosia, who took Susan Popper’s dog, Sally, to a dog lover in New Jersey Friday morning for care while Susan is in the hospital.
Sally is the shyest dog I’ve ever seen, she runs away and hides when a stranger comes into the house, she is attached only to Susan. Betty, the foster caregiver, has a lot of experience with dogs and is both loving and confident.
Within five minutes, Sally was cuddling with Betty on a footstool. Five minutes later, she was running and playing with Betty’s two toy poodles.
If Susan should recover and get back home, Sally will come back.
If not, it seems she has a great place to be. Sally has been alone for most of the day for some days now, we were all happy to see her get to a good foster home, and if necessary, a good permanent home.
In a day or so, when things calm down, Sally will get groomed and have her nails clipped. Susan was thrilled to hear this good news. She misses Sally but is relieved to know she is in such good hands.

Jon, this news literally made my day! I was so worried about little Sally. This type of upheaval is hard on people and they have the ability to reason and understand what is being explained to them. Dogs can’t understand when their lives are turned upside down and I guess that’s why I was worried about Sally. Thanks again for the update and the photo. They were a great start to my weekend.
