Graduation: The Sweetest Bishop Maginn Wish List Ever (Peek)

by Jon Katz

Tonight, around 7 p.m., I’m posting a link here to what I think is the sweetest and most appealing Bishop Maginn Wish List ever, the Prom and Graduation Wish List.

After some cajoling from me, Sue Silverstein spent the afternoon get a heart-lifting Wish List that contains 24 very inexpensive items that will give the school’s graduates the favors, scarves, ribbons, artificial flowers, Iron-on patches, Honor Stoles, paper tassels, glitter prom sashes, crowns and other party and graduation accessories that most schools have but the Bishop Maginn students have not been able to afford.

This is their list, the things they asked for, for their graduation and prom.

These items range in price from $8.99 to $17.95 and include 40 honor scarves that cost $14.99 apiece. These golden scarves are important elements in school graduations in Myanmar, Thailand, and Southeast Asia.

These are children with no money to buy or afford the favors and symbols they very much want for their prom and their graduation. We’ve come through for them before, I hope can do it again.

The refugee children have always wanted them but have not been able to afford them. Last year, the class tried to make their own paper roses, it took hours and hours, and they ran out of time.

Sue is finishing up the Wish List as I write this and I am working on my blog post about it (you can get the first peek here of this work in progress).

It’s almost done.

This may be the most meaningful Wist List yet, I’ve never seen these kids so excited. I want to help give them the prom and graduation they want and deserve.

See you later, and thanks for your support. This is such a pleasure to do, a small act of kindness that makes the Army Of Good shine.

Above, Zinnia is surrounded by her many admirers as soon as we entered the school. She loves that place.
