Walk In The Woods With Us

by Jon Katz

I’ve gotten a bunch of requests for a video of my daily walk in the woods with Zinnia. Maria came along with Fate, and I did shoot a short video, I hope it is helpful. I’ve battled the ticks to a standstill with lotion, spray and the right clothing.

Zinnia is a hunter, it turns out, she finds mud ponds, bonds, and dead animal body parts, eats some of them, brings some to me. These woods are beautiful and quiet and so well-tended. Come and see. We are so lucky to be able to go outside and be clear of people. Come and see. I’ll be happy to do more if it’s helpful to people who are locked up inside of their urban and suburban homes and can’t go out.

  1. Yes! Thank you for that respite – the quiet (when you stopped walking!) Take me there again, please.

  2. Thank you – soooo helpful. Just got back from grocery shopping during the old people’s time 5:30 AM with my husband – both of us masked. OMG……..shopping with him is so stressful – where is he? Where is my basket? Please don’t let me drop an armload of cans! Now, where did he go???? Why are the cans on top of the produce – frozen in with the cat food!! Being partially retired and sheltering at home has him taking over some of my jobs and domain. Yes – I love him…..but. So walking through the woods helped me take a breath and remember this is only temporary – as is everything else in life. Linda

    1. Hi Linda! You made me laugh??! My husband is home too. He is, also, semiretired. Jon, thank you for this beautiful, calming video. Now living in Southern California It brings me back to the days of my life in New Hampshire. The crunch of the leaves, the dogs roaming without a care in the world, the densely growing trees and you’re incredibly calm voice made the video so meaningful. Thank you!
