The Zoom Belly Dancers Dance!Happy Holiday

by Jon Katz

Happy Thanksgiving to you. We have all been on a great journey together, and it continues. I’m nothing but grateful for you.

Yesterday, Vermont banned groups of more than two people from dancing or exercising together as the virus rises. So the belly dancers had an emergency meeting on Zoom.

They decided to keep going, of course. They are unstoppable.

Maria’s Belly Dancing class danced together on Zoom, the coronavirus’s rapidly growing stepchild. Maria loved it.

It was not the same as dancing together, she said, but it was very good and worthwhile.

Nothing will stop these women, certainly not a mere pandemic.

I went outside to test my new night lens on my Iphone. Wow.

Maria said she’d love a photo of her dancing via Zoom, and it was a joy to see her laughing and smiling as she danced. The camera is everything they said it is.

The virus need not stop us; it just challenges us to be creative and accepting.

I feel especially hopeful this Thanksgiving. I can almost feel the hateful energy of this year fading into the background,  not quite gone but diminished.

I hope he finds peace and compassion in his next chapter.

I hope the rest of us do also. I have great faith that tomorrow can be better than today. And today is better than yesterday. That is what faith is for me.

I am filled with gratitude for all the good we have done and the good hearts that swirl around me and this blog.

I bow to the power of love and the great lessons of the farm. We will spend today with one another and the animals. I am very excited about the Thanksgiving takeout dinner we got yesterday from Jean’s Place.

It looks absolutely wonderful; I’ll take a photo later. Be safe and warm, and take some deep breaths. Like the belly dancers, life goes on and on.
