Two Bits Of News. Vaccines And “Katz On Dogs”

by Jon Katz

Two bits of good news.

My radio show “Katz On Dogs” will debut next Wednesday, March 31 at 6 p.m., EDT, on WBTNAM1370, WBTNAM.org. Originally it was scheduled for 8 p.m. but the station is moving it up for the first program.

Sometime in the next week or so the program will move to a weekday afternoon, details to come. I’ll be offering daily updates on the blog.

You can live stream the broadcast from just about anywhere in the world. All you need is to download a free radio app like Tunein.com and look for WBTNAM.org. The app and the broadcasts are both free.

The program will stand or die on calls, the call-in number is 802 442-1010. The show will also be broadcast as a podcast, also available on the WBTN.org website.

Please feel free to call to ask questions and talk about your dogs,. cats or other animals. I have a good feeling about this, but the show will only be as good as the people calling in.

The call-in number is 802 442-1010.

Secondly, Maria got her first vaccine injection this afternoon at our local Walgreens. We are both relieved.

I’m getting my second and final vaccine shot tomorrow morning at 9:15. I’m bringing a bag full of chocolates to thank the pharmacy crew at Walgreens, who are exhausted every day.

I feel liberated by the vaccine. In two weeks I will be able to return to Bishop Maginn High School with Zinnia, and also hopefully to the Mansion to resume my weekly storytelling and meditation sessions.

We will also invite some cherished friends over to dinner. It’s been too long.

There are some new people at the Mansion for me and Zinnia to meet and get to know. Thanks for all of the support you have given to these people. I hope I continue to think of the more than 50,000 people who died over the past year because of this pandemic,

Up here, few people have been sick, so I often meet people who scoff at Covid-19 and tell me it was no different from the flu. I am grateful that so many people don’t have to earn otherwise.

I appreciate my doctors,  our embattled Governor Cuomo and the CDC for keeping me informed and alert, and sparing me from what my doctor said would be an almost certain fate if I caught it.

Maria was remarkably vigilant and kept me focused on protecting myself. That was a lot of work for her, and I am grateful.

  1. …and I just found the station on TuneIn, and there you were, calling into the station, live on air! 🙂

  2. almost 550,000 deaths, not just 50,000! Assume that’s a typo? Johns Hopkins has a 1 minute data video updated daily, it takes a few times of watching it to get up to speed on the categories of info but it is a terrific capsule summary.

  3. COVID is nothing to scoff off. My son and his family had it in November and he had it real bad He still can’t taste or smell. He also still has breathing problems and he is considered a long hauler
