How Dogs Sleep

by Jon Katz

Since we got Zinnia a new dog bed (which the other dogs use more than she does) I’ve been studying how dogs sleep.

Somethings I’ve learned: They sleep in the same order every night, smallest, medium and large, always in a neat row.

They dream. They make a lot of distinctive noises and movements that strongly suggest they dream.

They go to bed at the same time. When one goes to sleep, the others do.

They switch positions frequently. But one thing I’ve noticed, they always stay in order of size and place in the pack.
