I love Maria’s magnets, they are a microcosm of her work and the ways in which she sees the world. Four or five years ago, she started selling them on her Etsy page and it’s become a tradition for her.

And for me too. I put the first one up on my SUV, the only decoration I have ever put up on the outside of my car.

Now there are six of them, prominently displayed on the driver’s side of the car.

Maria is part of a protest work stoppage on Etsy right now, her site will be up and running tomorrow. People come over all the time to ask me what the pictures mean, and I tell them proudly that they are magnets celebrating the art of my wife.

I have room for a lot more magnets, and every one will go up on my car.
