Finally: The Cloud Appreciation Society, A Group I can Join (And Did)

by Jon Katz

Finally, I found a group that I can join that will have me; it’s called the Cloud Appreciation Society.

I will soon be getting both a membership card and an information packet with a guide to identifying cloud formations and configurations explaining them.

The society’s Cloud Manifesto won me over. I’m in. They believe that clouds are nature’s poetry, and the more I look at the clouds, the more I agree.

Thanks to   Barbara, a blog reader, for sending me the link.

My photography has helped me to see the world anew. Today is exciting for other reasons. Work has begun to spruce up the looks of the blog a bit.

We will make the letters a little darker, so they will be easier to read and add some color and badges to the display and the text. There will be an “Army Of Good” badge so that those posts will stand out and badges for essays and photography (“Photography Journal”).

We might also change the Bedlam Farm Journal logo to a brighter color. There will be some more changes, but they will not be significant.

Also, today, I got my new camera, a Leica 2, delivered. I’ll try it out later today if the weather holds or tomorrow morning.

I look forward to daily messages from the Cloud Appreciation Society and their Cloud Of The Month feature. I like this group already. I don’t know if clouds need advocates, but some people don’t want them to.

I can send photos of clouds I love and see the clouds submitted by others.

Here is the CAS cloud of the month for May, an Altocumulus with Cloudlets:
