The Color And Light Diary, From My Garden, Wednesday, July 6, 2022

by Jon Katz

Thanks for all your beautiful messages about my flower photos. I will keep them coming. This is a big deal for me, a rich and uplifting new chapter. I thank you for your attention and support.

Most of the photos are taken with my Iphone 13, which is great on color. Some, like the one below, are taken with the Leica, it takes softer and more evocative photos.

I love the very graceful and beautiful poppies. I’m planting some more.

I’m not sure if we ever agreed on a name for these flowers, they are hardy and proud.

The garden beds are taking on a new dimension, they have depth and richness of color.

Here comes another Zinnia.  I’m just a day or so away from my first bouquet.

My bellflowers are popping up all over the place. I love these flowers.

  1. I planted some bellflowers by the south side of my house, but they did not live; is there a key to keeping these flowers going? Yours are beautiful; did you start them from seed or a plant? Mine was a plant.

    1. I started them from a plant I bought and just water them every day and keep them in good sunlight. They are also sitting in some donkey manure, which is a wonderful fertilizer. Good luck with them.

    2. P.S. This is the first time anyone has ever asked me for gardening device, and I am honored and tickled pink. Stay in touch.

  2. I believe the yellow flowers at the top are coreopsis.
If not, they are a darn good imitator!
